Hi! I’m Kristen Skidmore.
Why am I a doula?
Having a little one come into your life changes you, pouring a beautiful magic into your world. Just as happily ever afters look different to each of us, our journeys through motherhood are unique. My hope as a doula is to support you as you write your story.
I am originally from Jamestown North Carolina. My education and career has been focused on being a theater professional receiving a BA in Theater Education. I worked for a world renowned entertainment company in Orlando, Florida as an entertainment manager for 10 years, before becoming an Advanced Certified Doula from the Midwives College of Utah.
So how exactly did I end up becoming a passionate, caring and dedicated doula? I became a mother of two beautiful children. Through my birth stories I have personally experienced the peace, joy and empowerment that comes from knowing my voice was heard, having a united, caring birth team and being guided by a doula. I have also experienced the heartache that comes from experiencing birth trauma. I am here to help mothers and their partners feel loved, advocated for and heard.
There is great value in finding the balance between the holistic approach to birth and the medical. My life has been saved by a C-section and by kind doctors who cared. My life was also torn apart by crude words, invasive hands and feeling like I didn’t matter. I want you to feel informed and know the options available to you, I will work with you to establish a kind and supportive birth team and for you to have the birth experience of your choice.
I look forward to meeting you and having the opportunity to help you feel supported in your birth journey.

“I am glad to take a moment to share my thoughts and experiences about working alongside Kristen. Over the past five years, I have had the distinct pleasure of witnessing her journey into motherhood, and more recently, her evolution as a doula. It's been a beautiful transformation to witness, and one that has left a lasting impression on me.
In early 2022, I had the honor of being Kristen's trainer as she embarked on her path as a doula. From the very beginning, it was abundantly clear that Kristen's heart was fully invested in this role. Her dedication and passion for the work she does shine brightly. Kristen understands, on a deeply personal level, the profound significance of a positive birth experience and the essential support required during the postpartum period. This personal connection to the process gives her a unique and empathetic perspective, allowing her to connect with her clients on a level that few can match.
I've had the pleasure of having Kristen by my side for several births, and each time, I've been impressed by her natural ability to advocate for her clients. She thrives on providing comprehensive education and unwavering support before, during, and after the birth of a child. Kristen's presence offers a sense of calm and reassurance, she is dedicated to making each experience as positive as possible.
In this challenging and beautiful profession of doula work, Kristen stands out as a source of warmth, compassion, and dedication. I believe that anyone fortunate enough to have Kristen at their side during childbirth and the postpartum journey will undoubtedly benefit from her support, expertise, and innate ability to bring comfort and positivity into the most crucial moments of their lives.
I wholeheartedly endorse Kristen as a doula colleague. She has not only become an asset to our doula community but also a cherished friend who embodies the true essence of this profession.
